Popular Post heppnerguy
I decided to make another farm combine for a farming friend but I liked the natural wood color and decided not to paint it. If you have seen some of my other posts you already know that I am not very satisfied when i do try to paint a project. I left all the finish off this one so the recipient can choose to paint it, if they wish to do so. In the front view of this one, it appears that the turning cutters, ( for lack of real knowledge on farm equipment ), are bent on the right side as you look at it, but in fact they are straight. I am not sure why the photograph makes it look that way so I thought I would mention that before someone else does. I ended up cutter three sets of the circle pieces in the front of the machine because the first two sets fit very tightly and I had breakage. Finally I gave up on the pieces being made of cedar and instead decided to use BB Ply for that part. I hope I am learning something from this endeavor. Jaguarguy
That is too cool! I can only aspire to such good work (and a lot of mediocre work until then ) heppnerguy

Very well done I, personally do not care a lot for most wooden toys. Nothing wrong with them and they are still quite popular, but I was asked by my granddaughter to make a combine for her to give to her farming neighbor for all the help he has given to her. So I agreed and got on line to try and find a pattern. Eventually I ran across this one and made it for her. Then my other granddaughter has a boyfriend that is a farmer and uses a combine to cut their wheat. So I decided that would be a perfect Christmas gift for him. It is not to play with but to be displayed on one of his shelves in the house. I do happen to like this particular pattern as it has some pretty good details to it and it is not just an outline of the vehicle with wheels, as so many are. It has a lot of good detail so it does appeal to me more then most wooden toys. I made it not as a toy but as a display item for a farming boyfriend of one of my granddaughters. Glad you like it also Dick heppnerguy
