Hello my name is Harry Moon, but everyone calls me Pop Moon. I used to be real active in scrolling, intarsia and Pyrography but stopped about 8 yrs ago when we moved because of no space. We have moved again and I’m wanting to get back to making saw dust once again. Have been looking for wood supplies but have had a hard time finding sources. I used to buy a lot from Sloans but I think they must have closed. So one of my first questions is where is a good source for thin lumber, intarsia wood and 2”x2” x 2’ or 3’  looking forward to meeting some new friends and sharing a little saw dust with.

Hi Harry, Pop. Welcome from East Tennessee. Glad you found the village and will be able to get back into scrolling. If you tell us where you are located, someone may be able to give you some local choices in your area. For example, here in the Knoxville area, we have Jefferies woodworking where I can get some of my wood. They will sip I think but do not have a website. There are others who do sell online from websites but shipping can run high and getting higher unfortunately.

Welcome to the Village from SE North Carolina, Pop. I usually use craft lumber from my local Lowe's. I've gotten Birch, Maple and Red Oak. The first two are ply where the Oak is solid. These seem to fit my style of projects which are primarily hangers. Never tried Intarsia and the closest I've come to Pyrography is burning the fuzzies from my pieces. I've recently located a mill about 20 miles from me and learned they will sell planks Would like to get some of them to create some live edge projects. Anyway, glad you able to get back on the saw. Looking forward to seeing your work.

Morning Pop Moon, Welcome to the group.  Here in Michigan LL Lumber is a favorite.  Several of our members buy their wood online.  I have even bought my thin wood from Amazon for making ornaments. Menards has a small section dedicated to *hobby wood*.  A bit pricey in my opinion but..................

Welcome from Dover, Delaware.

There's a Woodcraft store about 30 miles north of me where I buy Baltic Birch plywood from when I'm in that area.
Price is comparable to what I've found elsewhere and I'm satisfied with the quality.
