Hi Bob Printing is not the problem - it's getting the size right on what shows up and what actually prints - I agree with what you are saying though This is just like everything else when it comes to technology - Some get through it with no problems and others struggle. We are on different systems and it looks like you will have to find what works for you when a problem occurs - It's been an interesting topic, Thanks to all who replied - Now, let's get back to our regular scheduled program and move on - I think Ray got what he was after. OCtoolguy Posted January 11, 2022 Author Report Share Posted January 11, 2022 Just to update, I have tried many things so far and this time I tried creating a circle at 4.5" in Inkscape and saving it as a .pdf file. I opened it in Acrobat and printed it but it still comes out 1/16" too small. So, with that said, I give up. I just made a circle in Word but I have no idea how to size it. Can you illuminate me. Keep in mind that I'm old. And slow. And cantankerous. And....... I will try to remember how to do it in 2003 version. If you right click on the circle, you should be able to select Format Shape. One of the tabs or fields should be size (height and width). You can change by typing in the value you want. My version is came with the computer I bought last year. I went from 2007 to 2020 and I get lost in the Microsoft products. Good luck. Thanks Dan. I'll give it a try. Ok, I managed to get a circle in Word at 4.75". I printed it out and it printed about 1/32nd small. Just under 4.75". Just under 4.75". check in pattern making, look under my post sizing problem with inkscape when printing, see Don's post as it took care of the problem for me. it was a setting when I was printing. I did find a good set of videos on youtube that explain Inkscape. I'm watching yet more of them. At some point, I'll know all the basics. Understanding them, probably not. Wichman Posted January 13, 2022 Report Share Posted January 13, 2022 Ray, when you open the document properties menu, do you have the option to "resize page to content" ? it should be File > Document properties= pop up dialogue box Within the dialogue box: Page> General> display units (in)> page size (us letter)> orientation (portrait)> custom size (width, height, units) just underneath this (within the same thin line connecting them) is a right arrow (black triangle) that is labeled resize page to content. If your printer can't do edge to edge printing, then you can this sub menu to account for that. If you had the margins set to 1/2 inch all around the page (you don't) then using the "resize to page" would shrink the image a small amount. So, this is not the issue. In other (expensive)( Coreldraw) programs most of these issues are taken care of by a "printer properties" file, Inkscape does not have this, neither does GIMP.
