OCtoolguy
That one would be very easy to photograph and trace over. Nothing but straight lines. danny, NC Scroller and crupiea
Dan
I agree, just make your own. May look cool with different wood for the pieces. NC Scroller, danny and OCtoolguy
meflick
@namunolie does similar type puzzles. I checked his Etsy store but don’t see this one there though. https://www.etsy.com/shop/Namunolie?page=1#items OCtoolguy and NC Scroller
OCtoolguy
I'm not quite understanding what the two are about. I understand the top one but what's puzzling about the star? Never mind, I went back and now see that it's a puzzle that holds the pieces that are then supposed to be put into a star. Great idea. I might have to make one. Fab4
Ray: The 2 examples that Scott showed at the beginning of this post are 2 separate pieces They do not go together - The star one is a partial cutting, It's missing the star that is cut into puzzle pieces - The shape for both just happens to be the same, this is what is throwing you off BUT: If you do manage to fit the pieces from the top one into the star, make sure you keep the solution it will surely be a one of kind So what you and Jim did is the actual pattern for the top photo Thanks Fab4 Edited January 16, 2022 by Fab4 OCtoolguy

trackman
So you have to cut the top one an also have to cut a star for the top pieces to fit into?? OCtoolguy

John B
3 hours ago, Fab4 said: Hi Delvaughn: I don't think so, I think it's 2 separate patterns - Maybe someone else can weigh in and confirm Fab4 I believe so. I haven't gone as far as digitising the pieces and then fitting them in the star star shape, but the shape of the pieces certainly suggests that they will fit in the star. Also the grain direction does not match on the pieces in the pentagon, suggesting that they have been cut from another shape. The grain looks suspiciously like the star. Hi John: I retract what I wrote before, I was wrong, you are correct, these pieces will fit or make a star shape Fab4 John B and OCtoolguy
kmmcrafts
Cut the one you made pattern for and then make the star and trace around it to make the pattern for the second star.. that'll be the challenge.. OCtoolguy
NC Scroller
I believe it is one puzzle made up of three layers glued together. The top is pentagon with the odd pieces. The bottom is the star. The middle is solid. OCtoolguy

Dan
Well, I think I figured it out. Yes, you can take the pieces from the pentagon and arrange them in the star. One piece from the star will need to be flipped over to finish the octagon. I printed the star and octagon and cut them out. Now I think I will make one. Thanks for all of your thoughts and inputs. And thanks Jim for the pattern. It's pretty cool. I'll post a photo of the paper cutout, but first I'll let you guys try it. Dan
Here's what I found is the best fit. This is cut from paper so I'm not sure if it will work when cut from wood, but I may try it and share results. The white piece was flipped to fit. The center piece may also fit better if flipped. barb.j.enders, Fab4, NC Scroller and 1 other 3
