Scroll saw dilemma

Good morning all,

I have a small dilemma in which I would like you thoughts.
In September my Dewalt DW788 type1 began knocking.  I reviewed the Gwinnett woodworkers YouTube videos and Bob Brokaw's videos.  After opening my scroll saw, I realized I was in over my head. Buttoned it up and on October 8th sent it to Dewalt to be overhauled.  They would completely rebuild it for $300.00.
On about the middle of January, I asked the status and was told parts not available and not sure when they will be.
While waiting, I purchased a new Delta 40-694 scroll saw.
One week later my Dewalt showed up. Completely rebuilt to original factory condition.
Dilemma is which one to keep and which one to sell. They both run great and vibration and sound are very very close.
Sorry for the length of this note but would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks so much,
Regards,
Jim Paskell

Keep the more user friendly "to you" one.. while the two are very similar.. the Delta has a device to keep the arm lifted while changing blades or threading to a new hole etc.. But that also said.. used Dewalts seem to hold a resale value better and more likely to get more money from it than the Delta even though basically the same saw..

If you have room etc.. keep both..

Keep both. Nice having more than 1 saw.

Like others have said, if the cost and floor space isn't a concern, I'd keep both.  IF I HAD to narrow it done to one, I keep the Dewalt.  Delta as a company always seems to be questionable as of late and in years to come parts availability may be slim.  Dewalt has been around in basically the same configuration for awhile and probably will have parts available.  Just my thoughts.

Jim I have a Dewalt DW788 that needs rebuilding also, which service center did you send your to? Thanks

Needmore,

My Dewalt 788 was sent to the facility in Las Vegas. I live in Arizona, so that was the closest. You are near the Gwinett Woodwokers in Georgia and I believe Bob Brokaw ma still rebuilds these.  His are probably better than Dewalt.

You can probably get some information from them as to where would be best to send your unit.

Not really sure how to help. I went to my local Dewalt service center and they took care of the connection to Las Vegas.  Let me know how you make out and I'll see if the folks here can give me directions to a location near you. Best I can do now is try to get directions for you from here.

Keep me posted.  PM If you would like.

Jim

All,

Thanks so much for the input.  I truly appreciate all the responses. Looks like I'm keeping the Dewalt.  It's an old friend and fits well in my shop.

I'm retired and woodworking is a hobby that keeps me off the streets and out if trouble.  I don't really see me needing two scroll saws.  If the Dewalt dies again, I'll buy a new one.  This rebuilt will hopefully last as long as I well.

Thank again all.

Jm

I had to send my Dewalt in a few years back as it's speed kept doing wonky things.  Got it back, same issue.  Took it back to the service center, they sent it back to Edmonton.  They couldn't figure it out.  Got a brand new saw for the $300 rebuild cost.  Anyone need a new table??  lol

I'm in the keep both category as well

I have 2 saws since the wife is now cutting and we have set them both up to do different things which expedites our cutting projects tremendously and makes our process more efficient!

Unless you need to recoup that $300, then I would sell the Delta and keep the dewalt
