Popular Post flarud Posted January 31, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted January 31, 2022 Cleaning up the shop a little today,, found several patterns that I forgot all about. Some of them I found were I believe made by Grandpa last year,,, maybe the year before... it's been hectic the last couple of years! He made me some word in word patterns of my hometown and my current town that I have lived in for the last 33 years along with all of the places (City and State) that my wife and I have vacationed at for the last 33 years. I planned on making them all and hanging them on the beams going around my back porch. I also found about 10 pieces of Maple that I prepped back then. So I made my hometown today. May make some more tomorrow. I started out using my favorite go to blade.. FD UR1. It didn't seem to cut very well, this Maple is 1/2" thick and hard! I switch to an Olson #3 mach speed. It seemed to cut a little better so I stuck with it but it still took just over an hour to cut. Looking at the piece now,, looks like it may be Curly Maple. It still needs a finish and a hanger installed. I also included a pic of the porch where I will hang them. It is kinda out of the weather but I'll prob use a marine spar finish on them to help protect them. FDPiper, TexasDIY, Joe W. and 14 others 17 Quote

Oh and the sign is nice to LOL Quote

Made from Cypress, the post are true 6x6's. I recently had a fireplace built, contrary to what people think.. it does get cold down here in Florida. It was 26° yesterday morning. barb.j.enders, Scrolling Steve, John B and 3 others 6 Quote

It was in the 30's last Saturday at our Market - man we were freezing our butts off. Interestingly, people still came out! Quote
heppnerguy Posted February 1, 2022 Report Posted February 1, 2022 I love those signs. I get quite a few requests for them. they are so easy to make patterns for and fun to cut. I like the way they look very much. I live in Southern Arizona and the morning get quite cool also. Most days are in the middle 60's to low 70's here right now. should start getting warmer by the end of the month. Dick heppnerguy Quote
wombatie Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 Awesome outdoor area. I remember you saying that you wanted to make these word in word signs a long time ago. Great start. Marg Quote
