Popular Post Wichman
I'm starting to be able to do things with Inkscape, now to retain the knowledge and not have to relearn again and again. Now that I can modify the text, I can use various words in combo with the rose (sweetheart, thankyou, and names/other languages). In my last pattern I was able to change the color the lines printed in (red) and I was able to add red dots to indicate where to drill (the dots were .035 diameter, so when drilled they disappear, making it easier to see if all the opening have been drilled (so easy to miss one or two)) Original pattern (mother) Steve Good, font on new word z003, 5/16" hardwood, FD #1 polar blade, BLO finish. jollyred, danny, Dave Monk and 9 others
RabidAlien
Very nice!!! Retention is one of my big hurdles, too. I have to re-watch the videos every time I put together a word-in-a-word pattern. LOL

LOL You're not alone, I do a lot of word-in-a-word stuff and still, after all this time have Travis' video running in the background. barb.j.enders
Great cutting. I am trying to learn Silhouette because I heard it was Inkscape "light". Still can't figure it out. I clearly need time to sit down and review, review review. That will be in the fall after retirement.

Dak0ta52
Great job, Wichita. You did great on the plan and the cutting is spot on. I cut Steve's pattern for my mother last Mother's Day and I cut it using 1 inch pine. The flex in the blades caused me to cut through the thin strips towards the bottom of the piece. (Only the second or third piece I ever cut.) It still came out nice and my mother was happy so all was well. I've been trying to learn Inkscape and Gimp. Going through the videos in the Village University. Travis did a great job explaining but like you mentioned, retention is an issue... especially trying to learn two different programs. I'm running Linux on my computer, and I picked up a used second monitor for cheap. I set them up to display side by side so I can watch the video (or pause) without having to switch tabs.
