Oregon Trinket box

Finished this to take along to the Mother's Day Markets on Sunday.
Made from Oregon (I believe you blokes call it Douglas Fir).
Red felt inner lid liner and bottom liner

140mm sq and 100mm high

nice blue background on top. You did good job on the rounded top. 

There is another type of wood from Oregon called Myrtle.  Smells nice also.

Royal Blue or Red seem to be my go to colours.
Most of the older buildings especially large warehouses used Oregon as beams and the Gold mines in Kalgoorlie used it extensively for underground timbers and, Head frames and buildings. I only use 2nd pieces that I happen to find. Currently I have 5@ 6" x 6" veranda posts

I love the pillow top look. Finished with 3 coats of gloss lacquer.
The colours are great, sad the timber is a little soft.
