FrankEV
I was looking for something different and found this Pheonix Rising image that I was able to convert to a Scroll Saw Pattern. I had to modified it significantly to make it scrollable and I did add some of my own embellishment’s. The cut panel is 5/32” x 12” x 15” Hand Painted Solid Core Maple affixed to a 1/4” x 12” x 15” Hand Painted BB Ply backer. I finished the assembled panel with multiple coats of Deft Clear Gloss Lacquer. The Frame is my typical 1 3/4” wide Poplar finished with Black Lacquer. My unbiased (Yeah, I know) Lady thinks it is great…I, on the other hand being my own worst critic, am not too happy with the overall finish work. Mostly the painting. OK, Comments and Critique appreciated. Fab4, ChelCass, Dave Monk and 6 others
Dak0ta52
Very nice, Frank. I've ordered me some colors so I can try my hand at adding a flair to my projects. FrankEV
dvdneal
I'm wondering what it would look like without the paint on the phoenix. Just the background paint. I think it takes away from the scroll work, but that's just me. FrankEV

The scroll work just did not cut it ( no pun intended) by itself. I like the image, but it may not work as a scroll saw im a ge.
preprius
At first glance it looks stunning. When I draw flames it is hard to capture the chaiotic directions and color. Smoke is difficult also. You grabbed the essence well. But maybe practice the flame color some more. Is orange always to the tip of the flame? Add a bit more smoke paths. The blend of yellow and orange on the bird looks great. The cut details on the bird looks super also. Your flames is better than I ever drew. Me. Mark Eason. John B
I'm definitely not going to to criticise the painting Frank. It look a million bucks compared to my efforts. Single colours I'm OK at. The only suggestion I can offer is to perhaps spend a little more time sanding the frame prior to finishing it. The only problem with gloss is it tends to show imperfections and there are minor machine marks visible. barb.j.enders
As always, very nice. Just a thought on the painting - maybe some brown/green on the top of the wings for shading. The flames are great. FrankEV
Roberta Moreton
Frank, I LOVE your work. If you would make the painting of the bird graduated. Red at the bottom, lower parts near the flame and less to none the closer to the head. So he is rising OUT of the flames. I hope you understand what it is that I am “seeing in my head” FrankEV
Denny Knappen
Very nice, Frank, and I too will not criticize the colors. Looks fantastic. FrankEV
new2woodwrk
The Phoenix puzzle is one of our best selling items. Our colors are very close to yours, except we add a little blue to outer wings... and the kids love these! Excellent work on that piece - no critique other than great job! CSull
I love the image and cut, just my eyes but I might have used a more yellowish orange for the Phoenix- I think we all see colors a little different. Once again the colors really make it a nice piece! FrankEV

I hope you understand what it is that I am “seeing in my head” I know exactly what you are "seeing". I reviewed many, many colored images of the Pheonix rising. There are hundreds and more available to look at on line. This was my attempt at what I saw the most. There was some shading in the original image that I could not duplicate in the cutting. My coloring just did not get the effect I was looking for. Roberta Moreton
