Soda Can Covers

At our club a couple of wood turners started to turn Soda Can Covers.  They are to protect getting in bugs and wasps when outdoors or woodchips in the workshop.  They started out fairly plain but they got fancier and fancier.  One was even in the shape of a bowler hat and one as a poop emoji. Works for beer cans too.

Then the scroller has to get involved and take it to the next level that only a scroller can to with personalized covers.

Made from Maple with a died birch veneer as a backer and baked FIMO clay for the initials.

Ah... they can cover up cans for covid protection at restaurants.

Once indoors they can be used as coasters.  

I might make some of those.  Usefull gifts.

Nice idea. I could have used those about 40 years ago. Took a swig of a Coke and spit out 2 yellow jackets. Ever since then I always cover my soda when outdoors.

I will echo what other have said, neat idea. I'm always looking for projects that are more than dust collectors, and this one is great!. Nice job,

Now there's a different idea. Even for something as simple as the pop can covers it is easy to see that making the project well, no matter the reason for doing so, comes out attractive if one uses their acquired skills and with the thought that if it is worth making, it is worth making well.

Great idea.  I don't drink soda but trying to figure out if it might work for wine glasses!

Funny you should mention that.  I am going to make a set for my daughter and these fit a stemmed glass for white wine but my daughter drinks red.

For a pop can the circle is 2 5/8 but the red wine glass 2 3/4 tapering out to 3 inches.  I am going to cut the inside on an angle to see if it fits better.

Nice pieces and and good idea, however totally superfluous in the case of beer, as it never lasts long enough to bother putting  a cover on the can

There are just way too many sizes of wine glasses to worry about making one. I have two sizes on the boat and many different sizes at home.

A project like this shouldn't be to difficult to cut with the scroll saw, if a person couldn't cut a circle out of 2 pieces of wood they could always cut it as a square or triangle or 6 or 8 sided shape! Cutting the inside out to fit over the top of the can shouldn't be that difficult! This is a great idea and one I will try for sure! By the way you did good on your interpretation, well done!
