Popular Post CSull
Cut from 1/4BB and backed with1/8BB I used Aspen for the frame and added the inlays. I also used my spline jig for the first time and used purple heart for the splines. The addition of the splines was easier than I thought-I will probably use them more. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. rjweb
The only thing I can suggest is, that is beautiful and you should be proud of what you completed, especially like the inlay on the frame, RJ CSull

FrankEV
Excelent job on both the cutting and the frame. The nice wide border between cut panel and frame really works well and makes the piece seem large. What size is the cut panel? What size backer? What is width of frame rails? The cut panel is 8x10 and the backer is 10x12. I used 1inch rails and rounded over the outer edges. The inlay is 1/4 inch width. I think I got carried away with the inlay-if I were to do it again or use inlay in the future I would center shorter strips on the rails, maybe 8 inch lengths or so. heppnerguy

I, personally really like the inlay exactly like it is. Where did you purchase the inlay? I would really like to see what all they have. The cutting is excellent. This is one really wonderful project in every way. Dick heppnerguy FrankEV and CSull

redwine
Beautiful job all around and the inlay on the frame is just right! Any other projects that you do with the idea of inlay on the frame, you won't go wrong by doing it like this one! Great job! spirithorse
Wow! That is beautiful work! The only advice I could possibly give is, I have heard people mention that they had problems using purple heart with poplar because sometimes any sanding or any liquid from glue or anything will make the purple heart bleed into the poplar. Be extra careful! You certainly don't want to ruin a great project like this in the final stages! God Bless! Spirithorse CSull

Spirithorse I thought about that but it was no problem on the aspen
Blaughn
The inlays on the frame and the blue embellishment really dress up the wood-cut portrait. Well done! Bruce CSull
