That is super, Dick.  Fit and shaping perfect.  What woods did you use?

You know, I really do not know the names of the woods, as I pick up different woods at the wood store that I like and go through what I have left in my wood supply and choose the ones that seem to work for me at the time. So I really can not answer that question. I will try to list them as I go on my next project so I can answer. I seem to get this question with all my intarsia projects, so I will try to remember to write down the woods and list them in my posts

Really nice, you chose well on the wood colors!

I try to make the best choices possible from the woods I have on hand. I have never shopped for wood for any pattern I have made as the wood store is so far away from where I live.

You're really getting into the intarsia, Dick. That turned out great. I'm sure she will surprised.

Actually when I started my wood hobby, I started with making intarsia projects only. After a few years of doing that, I got kind of tired of doing them and turned to scrolling, once I realized that scrolling was more than a simple outline of an animal or something similar. I enjoyed the fact that scrolling a project could be done in an hour or less instead of 4 days it takes my to do most intarsia projects. I have several intarsia patterns I have  never cut so I turned to those again, just for a change of pace. Never was very good at intarsia and I was too cheep to buy specialty woods for doing them. I still like the end results though.

Amazing,  I've tried intarsia a couple of times,  never finished for many reasons.  This pattern however might be doable for me. Thanks for sharing,  again beautiful piece.

Chris

This is one that you could do and finish without it even taking you very much time. I do enjoy the end results of intarsia a lot but not to enthusiastic at the time it takes me.

Awesome job Dick. I'm sure your wife loves it.

From a woodworker with your talent, I am sure you can see a lot of changes you would do if you were to make this pattern but I appreciate the pat on the back from you, anyway.

Beautiful work!

I appreciate  your comments. I try to do my best, but my best is a long stretch from the talents of so many people doing intarsia and scrolling. I love my shop time and being able to even come close to my goal every once in awhile, when I start a new piece.

Love it.  Excellent work Dick.

Marg

Marg, did you ever make the dolphin intarsia pattern I sent to you a couple of years ago. I know you would do very well with intarsia if you gave it a chance. Thanks for you nice comment on my newest project.

Lovely piece. I may try this some day as it does look doable.

You should, Don. I am confident you would enjoy intarsia as your projects are always so well done. This is a very easy one to start intarsia on. Not really that difficult to  do. I say, if I can do it, anyone can.

very nice job, I watched a you-tube video of someone making the same thing.

Oh oh. Now you know how much better it could be. The one advantage I have, is my family only sees what I make and have no one else to compare my work to. 🤪
