Popular Post Millwab Posted May 17, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted May 17, 2022 I decided to try bevel cutting the "fossil" pattern by Steve Good. Then I decided to take it up a notch. Instead of clear coating or staining I sprayed it with "stone" paint to give it more of a look of being excavated from rock. Foxfold, meflick, new2woodwrk and 25 others 28 Quote
preprius Posted May 18, 2022 Report Posted May 18, 2022 yep, Looks like like you took the age up a few notches. Quote
Millwab Posted May 18, 2022 Author Report Posted May 18, 2022 (edited) Using the stone paint also gives you the option of cutting the fossil separately and gluing it to the backer if you don’t want to bevel cut it. It (the paint) will cover up the fact that it’s glued onto the surface and still give the illusion of "coming out of" the background. Edited May 18, 2022 by Millwab Quote
redwine Posted May 18, 2022 Report Posted May 18, 2022 That is really different and a great idea using the stone paint! Lot easier than digging one up out of the earth! Erv Quote
lawson56 Posted May 18, 2022 Report Posted May 18, 2022 Now that is Really Awesome!!! I have used different backers over the years. I would never have thought of that. Cool Quote
heppnerguy Posted May 19, 2022 Report Posted May 19, 2022 that certainly was a great idea. I love the way it turned out. Dick heppnerguy Quote
spirithorse Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 Very nice! The stone paint sure makes a difference from the baltic birch cutting. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
