Popular Post barb.j.enders
Did a "summer" market today. Debated going because of the weather. Decided to go because they were doing, and did, a lot of advertising. Shoulda stayed home. Glad I wore my down vest with rain jacket and had gloves. Would have prefered the winter coat. Temperature was 10 celcius with wind gusting to 60 kph and intermittentrain showers. The cinder blocks held the borrowed canopy. Couldn't do the setup as planned because of the wind. Sales wise, I made table cost plus $20. The bragging right is I survived the sh*t weather. new2woodwrk, John B, jollyred and 11 others 11 1
Dak0ta52
Sorry the weather didn't cooperate, Barb. I'm doing my first "show" this weekend... actually a community yard sale. I don't really have a lot to display. Maybe 20 pieces. As far as the weather here, it will probably be in the upper 90s (Fahrenheit) and high humidity. My main objective is to show some of my pieces and hopefully get a couple commissions. barb.j.enders
Roberta Moreton
Cold is terrible! My last one, we got rain, no notice, 3 hours early! At least you made table rent. We did too! barb.j.enders

Dave Monk
When I first started I did outside shows. Never again. I got tired of fighting the elements. There are plenty of inside shows around my area. Glad you made your expenses. barb.j.enders
John B
Good on you for giving it a shot Barb. Outside markets are always hit and miss. Many a-time I have loaded the ute the night before, with a forecast of a nice day coming up, only to find, when we get set up that the winds are terrible and sometimes the heat just keeps people away too. You had a win, covered costs and have $20 for some more timber, or maybe hot soup barb.j.enders
wombatie
Well at least you tried, I would have called it a day before I got into the car. Marg John B and barb.j.enders 1
lawson56
I have had days like you had Barb. Love your setup. You would have made plenty, if Momnature would have been nicer. barb.j.enders

heppnerguy
My first sale was all intarsia projects. Hence they were a lot more expensive than any other booths there. I had a lot of nice comments but no sales until almost tear down and I sold my highest price piece. It was $175. I decided that all the work for hopes of selling was not my thing. It kind of turned my fun hobby into work. Not really what I wanted to do. You are a brave lady. Sales will come your way. Do not give up Dick heppnerguy

Do not give up Dick heppnerguy I am like you in that all the work for hopes of selling isn't really my thing. I have another event in November, which is a 2 day event. Did it last year as well and it was quite successful. I will probably just continue as I am - post something on my fb page for friends & family to see. Sold a fair bit that way.
