Scrollsaw Query

I googled both the Fasco company and the Strong Tool Design company and found some info on both companys. The Fasco company is still in business in Ozark, MO and makes electric motors of all sizes and shapes. The Strong Tool design I don't believe is any longer in business. This scroll saw was made around 1989 and from what info was available from a vintage tool site, very few were sold.  The company was located in Michigan. This is all i could come up with and what value  it would have would be how badly you would want it!

I'm on the fence about getting it. Don't really need it and no rook really in my small shop. Still interesting though!

You sound just like me.

Can't stand to pass up a deal. That's why I've got 3 saws and almost had a 4th Friday. You'll find space.

If you ever talk to Bushton, (Hawk mfg.) they had a bad experience with Fasco motors and controllers on Hawk saws.  I looked at a used Hawk a while back and walked away because it had a Fasco motor and what they said.

But for the right price, anything is a good buy.  🙂

I've always wondered just how many Hawks came back with bad Fasco motors. 1, 2, 1000? How many are still out there just chugging away?

A photo showing the whole saw might help to see what it has and hasn't in the way of good features. Is the upper arm powered or does it have a spring lift for the blade? What size is the saw? Is it variable speed? What design are the blade chucks? The close-ups are good, but more, and a shot showing the whole saw side/front view would help too.

I picked the 3 best photos of the saw they had posted. You can see the bottom blade mount in the 3rd photo, the top is the same. The saw is about an hour from me and with gas prices like many others, I'm limiting my travel. Part of me wants to bid on it cuz I love old tools. But on the other hand I really don't have the space for a tool taking up space that I don't use.  Such a quandary.

Just tell yourself that someone beat you to it and move on. Something better around the next corner.
