Carter Band Saw Blade Stabilizer

Recommended Posts

I have one on a Shopsmith bandsaw. It works, but you can't set it up according to Cater's instructions. Shopsmith bandsaws do not work the same way as most other bandsaws. It takes some practice, and you will not get smooth cuts as a scroll saw. It is not going to turn your bandsaw into a Pegas scrolling bandsaw. With the Carter Stabilizer, you can cut much tighter turns with less risk of damaging your blade.

The Carter Stabilizer is for use with narrow blades only. If you resaw, you must change the guides to use your resaw blade or have a second bandsaw. I have two bandsaws.

I cut these with it.

As always, I thank you all for the input and information.

Yes, I know it won't be the same as a Pegas scrolling band saw.  I was trying to get as close as possible with a minimum investment. I have a Grizzly G055 which I am trying to convert to  cut finer cuts. Now I am in search of 1/16" band saw blades.

Have you tried Timber wolf blades? I use them now thanks to a recommendation I got here.

They make them to your specs and reasonably priced

I wonder if the Pegas blades will fit most 14" bandsaws. What is their length?

That is a good idea. From what I see the Pegas blades are 931/2" long, same size as my Grizzly band saw. I think I'll give them a try and see how it works after I order the stabilizer.

Juan,

I also have a Grizzly G0555 14" band saw.  I checked the Carter website for the stabilizers and it appears that they do not offer one for the 14" Grizzly bandsaws.

Please let me know if you know of one for our bandsaws.

Thurman, I just visited the Carter Products web site. They have the CTR1 stabilizer for $82.95 to fit 14" to 18" band saws. I am calling them to see if it will fit my Grizzly.
