Popular Post heppnerguy
I made another Steve Good Strato caster guitar for a friend and mailed it off today without photographing it first but I also finally got around to cutting a Russ Beard pattern that I have had my eye on for a long time. I am really into fret work right now but can not always get around to cutting them. Having been gone for about a month and away from my shop I have not been able to much of anything in my shop. That said, I cut this Mountain Sheep just to finally give it a try. As you can see, I still have the framing to do. I had purchased one for it but the pattern turned out to be a little larger than I anticipated. After I finish the framing and finish work, I have decided not to post that as this shares the part I am really interested with this project. I have a request for one of my farm combines so I may put off the finishing touches on this one until I get it done. I have to add that I am anxious to cut yet another of Russ Beards pattern as soon as i can. Dak0ta52
Fantastic job, Dick. I understand how fretwork can be addictive. I just finished cutting Jim Blume's stagecoach which I probably have close to 30 hours. I've stained and placed on backer and hope to frame this weekend. I will say that I needed to do something a little easier and set up another (simple) pattern to cut while waiting on finishes/glue to dry on the stagecoach. As for your Mountain Sheep, I'm positive your frame will be outstanding. I believe you have that science down to a snap. amazingkevin and heppnerguy 1

It took a little longer than I expected it to but I do still have to spend more time to finish the project. Really good job scrolling it out, Thank you for posting, Bob Thank you. It is so nice of you to take the time to look at the few things I get around to cutting. It is extremely hot in Southern Arizona in the summer. I hear it is also quite warm in England right now also. It is often 90 degrees F. for a low temperature at night here so the shop get pretty warm and it is difficult to cool it off so that it is comfortable enough to scroll. I do have an air conditioner in my shop but the area of the shop is fairly large and the daily outdoor temperature is up to 113 degrees some days but always at least 104 degrees, on cooler days. The temperature does not change much even if we have a windy day or a cloudy day. Makes spending much time in the shop a bit uncomfortable.
