Badgerboy
My daughter gave a list of wedding projects to cut in the shop for her impending nuptials. One was this little sign. After cutting the script and peeling the pattern I was disappointed to find that apparently some of the toner ink bled into the BB ply when I sprayed mineral spirits on to remove the pattern. I have never had the happen before and I know the mark was not there before applying the pattern. I have tried a slurry of baking soda and just plain bleach but no luck. Does anyone have some wisdom to share on how to remove this black streak above the “n”? OCtoolguy
munzieb
Hi Todd, I used to have this happen to me until I started using blue tape on my cuts outs. Before removing the whole pattern I would pull off the blue tape first and then all of the dark pattern cut off pieces would either drop off or lift off. What was left, I would push out with an exacto knife, then I would remove the rest of pattern using Goof Off. It drys off clean. Not sure how deep the bleeding is but when it has happened, I usually had to sand it out. When I do my paint-in method for tires and the like, if I go outside the lines, I use a razor blade to scrape the over run paint (acrylic)Hope that helps. TAIrving
Beautigul cutting Todd @Badgerboy, lots of skill and lots of patience showing in that. Regrets I do not have any magic on how to remove that, you might have to cut it again, maybe using a different method of attaching the pattern this time so you do not need to use mineral spirits to remove it. Question, why was there still toner ink remaining on the pattern after you did the cutting? OCtoolguy and danny 1
Wichman
Try this: use spray carburetor cleaner and some paper towels, get the toner wet then sop up with the paper towels. OCtoolguy
kmmcrafts
I use rubbing alcohol to remove some of the burn residual from laser cut / engraving on wood and it wipes it right off.. Usually just put a little of it on a paper towel or a Q-tip and it works well.. not sure if it will work with this.. but worth a try I suppose. Bill WIlson
If all else fails, maybe a little acetone (nail polish remover)? OCtoolguy and WayneMahler

Badgerboy
I will try some acetone and then carb cleaner. I hope one of those works as I don’t want to have to cut that script again, it was a slow process using a mgt #3 and going back over a few sections with a #0 spiral blade. Thank you for all the suggestions. OCtoolguy

munzieb
Thanks Todd, I limited my time in the shop to AM because of the heat. I'm a glutton for punishment and we are heading to HHI for some sand and sea food and more humidity. When I'm back, I'll contact you about swapping more SS stories over some good food. OCtoolguy
I was just thinking that when you glued your pattern to the wood could the dampness in the adhesive caused the toner to bleed? I would surmise hat you cut all the remaining toner off when scrolling. How else could it have gotten that far away from the cut line? Fish
I still put packing tape on the wood first. I’ve never seen that before. OCtoolguy
crupiea
Nice work. You can always paint them if needed. A quick coat of primer followed by some spray of whatever color. danny and OCtoolguy
John M
Should sand out. OCtoolguy
Badgerboy
Well no satisfaction on removing this blight. I have rinsed the various solvents away and let it dry. I took to some light sanding yesterday and made no improvement..At this point I am guessing this may be a part of the BB glue up as I can’t make any progress in its removal. I guess this will remain one of those great mysteries and I will have to recut. Thank you to all for the various suggestions. danny and OCtoolguy 1
