how good is the wood How fast can I cut it ?

The cutting looks good.  We now assign you the (un)official world record for fastest scroll saw cutting!

BTW, I use parchment paper (non-stick paper for baking) as a backer when I glue or paint.  Nothing sticks to it.  The only negative is that any overspray comes off along with the painted object and you have to trim the excess.

A nice distraction Dick.
You have inadvertently proven two truisms, that are my Dad's favourites.
"If it's worth doing, it's worth doing Well" and "Less haste, less waste" ;)

I know and I believe that as  well. However it was only to race myself and to see it the free wood I got was worth using in future project. I had no interest in keeping it before I started it so it was all for fun and timing

Regardless of how fast you cut, it turned out pretty darn good. I've had a couple instances where the paint became stuck while gluing. I just sprayed a little paint in the cap and used a brush to touch it up.

It wasn't about the finished item.. it was about a test of the scrap wood I had gotten. Not something I was interested in ever keeping.. not worth the touching up.. I knew when I painted it that that it would not turn out very well, not letting the paint dry

They are fun and easy to do but may I suggest that maybe next time you put the darker color at the back, I learnt from my mistakes.

Marg

It had nothing to do with how I painted it so I just grabbed a couple of spray cans and let it happen.

I agree with  you Marg and usually I do us the darker color on my backer board.

It was really about seeing if the scrap wood I salvaged would hold up under stress. Speed cutting was my idea of a good test for it. It passed the test. I would never had glued it up so quickly if it was a project I was planning to keep.  I like your idea about the parchment paper. Thanks for the good suggestion

A challenge is on 1hr to finsihed product. :)

I hit the wrong number keys on the time to cut the letters. It did not take anywhere near 68 minutes, it should read 8 minutes. how  embarrassing..  a first time cutter could do this project in less time than that. 🤪

They do look Fantastic!!👍 I have had the same happen to me, but worse. I had to sand it off and do the painting over.🥴

If this was a piece I was interested in keeping, I would have not been very happy with myself but since it was for the fun of seeing how fast I could cut it and how well my new found wood stood up to the test, it did not matter how it turned out, to me.
