Printer ?

It was probably me who posted. I bought a color all-in-one Brother laser printer on Amazon a few years back. It was on sale at the time at about $225. Believe it or not I'm still using the starter cartridges that came with it. I found a youtube video that explains how to override the "out-of-ink" warning that they build into the printer. I don't do much color printing so I bought a black cartridge that just sits waiting. My printer is discontinued but for sake of info the model number is MFC-9130CW. I'd buy it again. If anybody is interested, here is the link to the Youtube video on how to override the empty cartridge warning. They want you to think that you need to buy a new cartridge but you probably don't need one. This works on many different models.

I've been using/buying HP laser printers for the past 35 years - they are built to last. In fact the ones I am currently using are 14 years old and my first HP last me just under 25 years! Laser toner is very inexpensive as well.

I do have a Brother multi-printer but since it uses ink cartridges I only use it for scanning.

I'm not a fan of ink printers - they clog up and run out of ink very quickly.

I have a brother color laser printer.  Had it for years and it works great.  Dont see the same model for sale anymore though.  Cost me about $150.

Bit pricey but the cartridges, a full set of two black and all the colors costs about $45 off brand.  They work as good as the more expensive brother kinds.

They also print out close to 1,000 pages.  I pretty much print everything I want.  Print a lot of patterns and if its off by 1/4" or so, will just resize it and print it again.  Dont like that one just print it again and again until i get it just right.

Before I had the regular cheapo printer i would just toss it when it ran out of ink as the ink is so ridiculously expensive.

The black and white laser ones are just as good. i dont really need to print in color.

My last printer was a Epson large format printer, can't remember the model. It did "okay" for printing.. my biggest complaint about it was if it set for more than a few days the print head had to go through the "cleaning" process to work correctly and of coarse I wouldn't know it until I printed my paper and only half of it printed so not only waste ink but paper too, LOL.. Then it'd use a crap ton of ink to "purge" / clean the print head...

My current printer is a Brother HL-L2390DW.. It's just a cheapy laser printer that is only black and white.. I do a fair amount of printing with printing receipts for my orders I get and also patterns etc.. easily $200 a year in ink for my old printer. This current one I blew through the toner ink whatever it's called for laser printers fairly quick and I was a bit concerned about it not being much if any cheaper thank my inkjet printer was.. but once I replaced the one that it came with.. I've been on this first replacement for a long time and it showing I have only used up about 50% of it..

I'll be upgrading it to a color laser printer for sure, I thought I could do without the colors but forgot about how I like to print the outline lines red for my patterns.. so my biggest complaint is that it's not a color printer and my second complaint is that it's not a large format.. while I didn't use the larger format papers often it sure was handy to have with my old printer.

Kev, when you get the "out of toner" warning give my video a look. The printers count the number of print jobs and at a certain number they think they're outta ink. Do a reset and keep on going. Like I said, I'm sti on my starter cartridge.

Two things I would like in my next printer is 1) a color printer and 2) dual paper trays.. one tray for regular paper and a second tray for my full sheet shipping labels to print my patterns on.. right now I have to open up the paper tray for every time I print a pattern..  I no longer print my shipping labels with my big printer though so the second thing would be a nice feature but not as necessary as it once was.. LOL. I bought a small dedicated label printer a Dymo 450XL.. had it for about 3-4 years now and would be lost without that thing. It's a thermal printer so no ink to fuss with.. You do have to buy special rolls of the labels but there are aftermarket on eBay that work well and less than half the branded ones. If I only made small stuff  (ie ornaments and keychains etc) I could almost do without a printer.. I have at times printed my patterns on the little 4 x 6 self stick labels from that little Dymo printer, LOL

I have 2 printers both are inkjet. 1 is a brother MFCJ8920DW which has dual trays A3 and A4. I did think of getting a laser, but now I only use it for patterns and very little else.. The other in Epson XP720A4. This is super quality and prints on printable CD, DVD etc. I use generic inks so they are both pretty cheap to run. Probably both are discontinued now, but have been good machines.

I have two printers. An Epson photo printer that has not been used in years. It is an inkjet, and it costs too much to operate. It got shelved when I did the math and figured out it was cheaper to have CVS print the occasional photo.

The second is a Brother HL3170CDW color laser printer. I print everything with it, shipping and Address labels, patterns, packing slips, and targets. It would be nice to have a second or third tray, but they are costly. The last I checked, trays cost almost as much as the printer.

I would like to have a dedicated label printer. However, the math does not work for my situation. It costs me less than a penny to print a shipping label, and my volume is low. Zebra has one that I liked and almost bought until I discovered it did not have a wired ethernet port.

Had an early Brother laser printer, slow, but did everything.  Fax included.  It lasted through a lot of use, almost 17 yrs before I couldn't get toner cartridges any more, had the old cartridge refilled a couple times.   I was always an HP loyal guy.  My HP b&w laser all in ones did everything and more.  But my 1217 HP tanked a couple months back.  Mrs. bought a liquid cartridge copier, fax, scanner, does colors, does two sided copies, all kinds of fancy stuff,  ok BUT, it doesn't reduce or enlarge  Went back and talked to the Salesman, he  said I am supposed to use computer for that.  Never had to in all these years.  Now I have to figure that out.   I tried to look for one comparable to my now tanked all in one 1217, but can't find any for less than $300.  The one that just tanked was $139.00 just six years ago.   Now I have to figure out how to use the computer to reduce and enlarge.  It was so much easier on the printer.

I had to buy a new printer about 8 months ago, I picked up a canon MF641C wireless printer/scanner/copier which is a lazer for about $299.

My wife does a lot of printing at home and it hasn't missed a beat.

That sounds like a pretty good deal. With the high inflation, everything is more expensive. Our cable t.v. went up $30/month this year.

Just got rid of our TV package, put up a antenna for the local TV and subscribe to a few streaming services.

I'm thinking of cutting the cable and going with Fubo. I'll use Frontier for our high-speed internet. Fubo has everything we need plus unlimited cloud storage for $80/mo. We subscribe to Netflix & Prime plus a couple of others. We are tv junkies. Live Brit tv. Far better than U.S.

I live in the sticks, but luckily I've got a 600mps connection, Netflix, prime, paramount + and peacock, the last 2 mainly for football ( I'm English lol moved here 20yrs ago but you can't take the football out of a Brit 😃) any thing else I need to watch = VPN sharkshack if you want a recommendation and a tiny computer running Kodi Stremio etc. Agree on you taste in TV.
