FLABAGASTED

Well I am well and truly gobsmacked.  I received an email from Fox Chapel about their new scrolling books and decided I wanted them for my birthday.  So I put 2 in the cart and went to the checkout.  Now the books only came to $32 - $33 US  BUT the postage was $148.50US.  They only offered Express.  I soon cancelled the order.  :curse: :curse: :curse:

Shipping and exchange rates make it very expensive to order from them directly.  If you have the ISBN number, you may be able to go to a local bookseller and see if they can order it in.  I had wanted the 20 Minute Puzzle book, but didn't want to pay exchange/shipping.  Happened to be in my local bookstore and there it was.  It is now in my hands and off their shelf.

I would called Fox Chapels customer service.  When I bought the last CD's they were supposed to ship via USPS but instead shipped via UPS. When I specifically asked if USPS ie postal service.

It arrived at the door with a bill almost as much as the CD's .  Customer service quickly offered a refund but I took it in a 2 year subscription.

Their customer service is top notch.

It's pretty ridiculous, the shipping some companies try and get away with Marg.
I try very hard to buy Australian made and found a place that had socks for about $9.00 a pair. U-beaut I thought, I'll get 5 pair for myself and couple of pairs for For Dad, Brother, sons and Grandson. but when I got to the postage, I sure changed my mind pretty quick. 15 pairs of socks and $80.00 postage :) I may still be wet behind the ears, but I never came down in the last shower :)

You might want to check with your local library to see it they have them in the system.

My library is a member of hoopla.  On line reading library.

I searched to scroll puzzles and there were a few there.  It gives you a chance to review the book and to make sure you want to buy.  You can not download the patterns or print out directly but there are ways around it if you want to spend the time.

Made me laugh Marge.

I am in the US and have a sister in Sweden,

I cannot afford a simple little gift to her.

Almost as cheap to fly over and visit.

My Son has "Girl Friend" in Michigan and he used to buy stuff to send to her for birthday, Xmas etc, but what he now does is purchase items online and have her address as the delivery address. He tries to get items from the US.

Postage is unreal and it is going up again.  We have Amazon Prime and get free shipping.  Many times you only need to spend 25.00 to get free shipping.  Did you check Amazon to see if they have your magazines????

I hadn't thought to check there for a FoxChapel book.  Now I will have to go spend some time down that rabbit hole - thxs

Sorry I have been away for a few days.  I received an email from Fox Chapel saying they have passed on my email to the IT department and they will get back to me, I am not holding my breath.
I would have more luck finding gold on the Victorian gold fields than finding a scroll saw pattern book in a book store or library here in Victoria but I will try Australia Amazon.

@wombatie Marg, I needed some more Googly eyes for my puzzles. Lots from China, that take a month (Probably 2) or more to get here. I found a place in Perth "Teachers Supplies" A hundred eyes $13.00 Not great but it'll do, until they add postage $9.95 from Perth to Kalgoorlie. They'll fit in an envelope and cost $1.20. A bit more searching and I found some on Ebay $12.00 no postage and here within a fortnight. ( from the Eastern States)
