Popular Post heppnerguy
I purchased this pattern from Charles Hand and was unable to receive it in a download. I contacted him and he worked with me on trying to get it to me for several days. After several ideas, I finally thought to have him try to send me the pattern through another of my web pages and I finally got it today. I had to work hard to get the layers to their close sizes as I was only able to get the pattern as screen shots before today, and had to try and get as close a match to the correct sizes by printing and changes until I was OK and cut it. It is 8 layers and one I could not quite understand what the size was supposed to be so I left that one out of this project. Again I tried to paint it to help bring out the layers better. I will have to cut this again in the future and get it all correct next time. Dak0ta52
Wow, Dick! You did a fantastic job on that. All those smooth cuts have to be pretty precise or they would stand out like a sore thumb. Everything looks smooth and even. I'm sure with some of those thinner pieces it could be very fragile. Again, excellent job! heppnerguy and danny 1
RabidAlien
I cringe just thinking about the delicacy involved with sanding this thing. Nicely cut!!! My first impression was "drill a hole in the center, and make a numberless clock". A couple of elegant silver hands, and this would be a VERY nice timepiece. heppnerguy

Blaughn
How long did it take you to reassemble your brain after cutting? That looks like a mind bending project. Well done! Bruce heppnerguy

It is for my son and I will suggest that clock idea to him. He might just like that. It is maybe a little too small for most clocks though. Only about 8 inches across Dick heppnerguy RabidAlien

If you do not have a comparison, one would not know the difference. Dick heppnerguy

Again, excellent job! I use 1/4 inch BB Ply as I was out of my 1/8 inch. So it is thicker as I really wanted it to be. It is an interesting pattern and fairly easy to cut as there really are no aggressive circular angles to deal with. It would not be a pattern that would interest me personally but I think my son will like it a lot. meflick
Looks nice Dick, especially if you were working with screenshots. I think it’s even harder to cut and work on a project when it is something that doesn’t necessarily appeal to us, even if we know it will to the recipient. That looks like a mind bending project. Well done! Bruce The really difficult time was trying to figure out what the proper size of each layer to be cut. I looked at the finished project and had to guess as which out side layer was actually the right layer I thought it to be. I think I was very close on at least most of them but not truly accurate. Had my computer accepted the actual pattern, as it should have done. It would have come together much easier and more accurate than it did Dick heppnerguy

Shame on me. Not sure why you said it was a waste of BB for you and also why you did not finish it. It has to be a really simple pattern for you to cut. I know, I have seen many of your amazing projects and just sat there with my mouth wide open in amazement. Maybe the subject manner of the project was just not to you taste. I tend to judge things through my own mind, as whether it is appealing to me or not and pass up a lot of opportunity to reach out to others who just might enjoy having one. I guess I am a little thick headed. I tell myself it is because I am old and a little cantankerous. My wife is disagrees with the 'little' part in the last sentence. I cut them all out and decided after the first four layer the last four really did not do much for the overall project... It is on my "someday I might finish" shelf along with my wooden gear clock.. and some others. Yours looks great.
