My 1st Portrait

I found a CD with some photos on it in drawer on my computer desk. It had this gem. My 1st attempt at making a pattern and cutting it. I believe I cut it on a GMC saw. (A cheap, very cheap, generic piece of ??? ) cut in 2006
It is a picture of a couple of friend's wedding. I was pleased with it and they liked it, but I wince now

They both look like they have 5 O'clock shadows maybe OK for John, but Tammy ...

I'm amazed sometimes when I go back and look at a project I did years before. As we gain experience and our skills improve - our views/opinions change too. I think it looks great!

I like it, it came out really nice. One thing I learned to watch out for is the grain in the wood. I've used BB and after I finished it I found I missed how the grain takes it away from the portrait. I look for the most grain clear piece I can find. I did one of my daughter on the tire swing and the grain of the wood ruined it.

The cutting looks good it's just the blue background that's the problem.

For a first attempt at making a pattern I think you did exceptionally well. As for your comment on one reply about the 5 O'clock shadow - the light is coming from the top right of the picture (you can see the reflection of the light) so the shadow is perfectly placed
