Popular Post heppnerguy
I started my scroll saw work doing intarsia. I enjoyed the idea that I could make anything at all out of wood. That surprised me in itself. After messing with those for about 7 years, I got tired of doing them. I still tackle one now and then but now my past is coming back to me in my Facebook memory, look backs, like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, I posted yesterday here. So this morning I received another one of them from 7 years ago also. This one is one I completely designed and made the pattern myself. It turned out a new doctor was assigned to work in our local hospital and he turned out to be my wife's personal doctor. After talking to him for awhile, I found out he was an Oregon Duck fan so I decided to gift him with a little plaque and this was the results Greatgrandpawrichard, new2woodwrk, Fish and 21 others

heppnerguy
I was happy as this was one of the patterns I made myself and I thought the outcome was pretty good. considering I was the total designer of it Dick heppnerguy

rjR
Just Mr. Jones doing his usual GREAT JOB! Making tour own patterns always adds more enjoyment, even when it took multiple tries to get the pattern decent! I have wasted a lot of posterboard, but I am too STUBBORN to quit before I get a reasonable result too. Sometimes it takes 4-5 different attempt or more for me to get a reasonable one. heppnerguy

If i know what I want from a pattern, I usually can make on in Inkscape. I also can do a fair job on wood portrait patterns but the hardest part for me is hair and beards. If someone asks me to do a custom plaque for them and tells me what they want, without me being able to see even a rough sketch of their idea I usually spend more time making and remaking the pattern because they always add something to what I do and i really do not enjoy the whole process and time needed to finally understand just exactly what they wanted in the first place.
