amazingkevin Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I just finished a john 3:16 thats 36" x 12" with a spiral blade.Done in white pine. The longest runs came out very straight as i used two fingers as a fence guide and just slid along slowly .I sure love useing spirals.Again today i needed to make a sign 36" x 8" and the spirals made short work out of it!I cut the letters and raised them 1/4" and a drop or two of glue on the reverse side held them firmly.the words were siciliean oven with flames. the wood was 3/4" plywood mahogany vernier covered. The blade used was a left over one (spiral) sent to me from xray last year. The dw788 i got for xmas has been a blessing to me.With no vibration and split arm action ,i wear out and smoke blades instead of breaking them. Many times i do that ,use used blades, to get the discolored burnt wood look on the insides of my work.Since xmas i've done hundreds of projects and wish i could upload to my gallery for all to see.I'm on the librarys computer as i don't have internet accest anymore on my computer.Good thing i downloaded all i could from the village and steve goods site to keep me going for quite a while.Sales are very slow but come in at the last minute usually whe i need it the worst.I'm so gratefull to the trade i learned for the village thats sustaining me thru the recession. Xray Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Glad you are still at it Kev. I also use the trick of using worn blades and bits to get a custom burned look, check out some of the things I have been doing on a CNC recently. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5769&start=30 You can't download anything at a library ?
