Scrappile
That is awesome. You should do one of those every year. You are very fortunate if he lives close. We have never been able to live close to our grandchildren. When my kids left home,,, they left home.. never came back to the area other than to visit us. I have two now living the closest they have ever lived 230 miles away. Cherish ever moment. He is a fine looking young man. Two of them I can see in their yard from my front porch. I retired in time to help my wife keep them as babies/toddlers while the parents worked. For that I consider myself a rich man indeed. Excellent portrait. His parents will be loving it a lot. The grandson will probably be blown away and show it to all his little friends. What excites me the most on this type of project is thinking how he may still have it when he's my age. Eplfan2011
I just love everything about this!! The pattern is spot on and the cutting is flawless but what I like most is the idea it's self! Wish I could do this for my kids but at the moment I couldn't pull of either the cutting or pattern making Great work thanks for sharing! That reminds me.... several years ago I made some key chains with the individual names on them and used them on the outside of the Christmas presents as name tags. I am still very amazed that everyone still has them and uses them too. In fact this summer one of my grandsons told my his broke and wanted to know if I would make him a replacement. Now these do not even come close to the wood portraits, so I would almost bet he will have his wooden portrait until he passes as an old man Dick heppnerguy Charlie E

I'm happy with this one but I'll bet I'm one of the slowest pattern designers out there. Several hours on this one, but I enjoy it almost as much as the cutting, especially when it's a grandkid. Also, I owe the font I used to you. Thanks! Edited September 29, 2022 by Charlie E Lucky2
wombatie
Oh what a cutie. Yes I know he takes after you................ That is a fabulous pattern and cutting, well done. And no you are not the slowest pattern maker the last one I made took 2 weeks, I like to get so far and then put it away for a while because I may see it differently. I wish I had the patience to do that. It’s a wise idea. Several times I’ve taken a finished one off the backer and recut something I wasn’t happy with. Your way would be much better. wombatie and Lucky2 1

John B
Don't know how I missed this one mate. A great pattern of a bonzer kid. Grand-kids are true treasures, Like you we have been lucky to have our young bloke near all his life. He lived with us for most of it. His mother expects me to be his Dad, but a Granddad is much more fun Charlie E and Lucky2 1

But, not always, sometimes, the Grandparents are fortunate to have their grandchildren live with them. Like in your situation John, just think of how well they will remember you in the future. Unfortunately, I was not fortunate enough to have any grandkids of my own, but, I sure spoiled and got my brother's grandkids wound up, before I sent them home.
