@Foxfold you can ask or you can read his post: "Cut from 30mm Radiata Pine".. 😉.  I read it, but didn't help me, I have never heard of it before.  The painting is also a good question.  I know he is probably going to say just any old rattle can spray paint, but his painting always stands out, and is so perfect...

John, always love your puzzles,  always well done and bright and cheery!

Brilliant !  It looks amazing.  May I ask what wood + paint you used ? Not that I could make anything so nice, just curious. x

Thanks Brenda and Paul.
Brenda, I use house hold acrylics. Flat and if not available satin. If you get the sample pots they are good value.
Once I have painted the colour, I spray a clear gloss lacquer x 2 coats over it all.
I use a soft brush and just lay the paint on any old how, then brush it out lightly in the one direction. When dry, cut back with 220 or 360g paper and re-coat.
Yellow, Oranges and Reds are pains, in that order for covering and some times 3 coats are required. By cutting back between all coats, including the clear, you tend to knock of any outstanding brush marks and imperfections.

Must confess, I didn't read that bit. 🤣 But had a look see.

Common Name(s): Radiata Pine, Monterey Pine, Insignis Pine

Scientific Name: Pinus radiata

Distribution: Native to central and southern coastal California;
also widely planted throughout the southern hemisphere

Still interested in his 'painting' though. Nothing I paint looks that good 🤪

That's usually the answer to how something is done so well. 😞 Multiple coats, lots of sanding in between, blah blah blah. Where's the product that does all sides at once with a perfect finish the first time. Paint, sandpaper, lacquer, I can buy. Patience is my downfall. :)

Perfect John.  The painting is 100% top notch.
Question for you, where did you get the shrink wrap from?

Marg

Bugger, I had a real story typed up and lost it :)
This is the type I have Marg.
If I remember correctly I did get it from Ebay.
It is folded so that one edge is always sealed. If you do need to wrap something larger, you can unfold it.
It's not cheap, but I have wrapped many hundreds of puzzles and the roll doesn't look touched.
Because of the weight, delivery is a bit dear, but if you can P/U it would save a bob or two.

With the impulse sealer. I would get the ones with a wire element as these cut the plastic as you seal. The ribbon ones requires you to cut the items loose with scissors etc.

These
seem pretty cheap. I may get myself a spare.
Thanks for comments
