Popular Post Charlie E Posted October 25, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted October 25, 2022 Tribute to my all time favorite musician and his faithful guitar, Trigger. Willie may surprise us all and hang around a lot longer, but I made this as a kind of farewell piece. "Funny How Time Slips Away" was first recorded in 1961 so Willie wrote it sometime before that. If you're familiar with his signature red, white, and blue guitar strap there's a glimpse of it between his braid and fingers. I worked my initials, CKE into his braid also. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the pattern. new2woodwrk, Dan, JackJones and 10 others 13 Quote

Hawk Posted October 26, 2022 Report Posted October 26, 2022 You did an awesome job on the pattern and project. Took me a minute to find your initials, very cool the way you worked them into the pattern (right braid). Chris Charlie E 1 Quote

John B Posted October 26, 2022 Report Posted October 26, 2022 Nice one Charlie. I love Willies song writing. Hello Walls and Crazy would be a couple of my favourites. I saw a docco on "Trigger" and a fellow tasked with keeping it going, he had no easy job as was not allowed to alter the wear and tear. I must say it and Willie really go together, both weather beaten and seen better days. Scrappile, danny and Charlie E 3 Quote

Couple of my favorite lyrics of his.-The yellow haired lady was buried at sunset, the stranger went free of course. For you can't hang a man for killing a woman who's trying to steal your horse. And-I heard you told him that you'd love him till the end of time. That's the same thing that you told me, seems like only yesterday. Ain't it funny how time slips away. danny, John B and Scrappile 3 Quote

Tbow388 Posted October 28, 2022 Report Posted October 28, 2022 Super awesome piece. My favorite Willie so far. He is a pretty nice guy. I saw him play at the Sonoma County Fair in the early 90's. After he was done he just got off stage and sat at a picnic table with us normal folks. Charlie E 1 Quote
Eplfan2011 Posted October 28, 2022 Report Posted October 28, 2022 My 19 year old daughter saw Willie this summer at the Illinois state fair she was blown away. They breed and show pigs and goats so they camp down there for the entire fair. John B, danny and Charlie E 3 Quote
