Travis
Halloween is over, now we're into November. This time of year always reminds me of big meals with the family with Thanksgiving and Christmas. We'd break out our nice tablecloths, dishes, and silverware. Then we'd share a meal with the family. So I this scroll saw challenge is about the table. It's pretty open to interpretation. But anything you'd use for sharing a meal with your family, table decoration, or personalization. So these could be things like trivets, napkin holder, name card holders, centerpieces, serving items, etc. When you post, maybe tell us a little family tradition you have. It'll be fun to see what you come up with. OCtoolguy
Popular Post john nelson
I know I am stretching it a bit but this could be a Thanksgiving centerpiece.........Lol. This is another example of adding color to scrolling. Art-work was done on paper using color felt-tip markers, a copy of the art-work was made and glued (Mod Podged) to the wood.............quick and simple......Happy Holidays. Popular Post BadBob
I have made many of these turkeys based on a Patrick Speilman pattern. The turkey is one of those patterns that doesn't look like much on paper and then looks excellent after you cut it and put it together. I made the first ones for a preshool that wanted them for the kids to paint, and I have been making them ever since. Randyw81
I made this napkin basket for as a gift for my wife a few years ago. She usually receives many compliments on it when we have guests. Wichman, Scrappile, jr42 and 5 others
Popular Post Tbow388
I cheated and put 3 Scroll Saw projects on top. This is my project that I finished today. I have been saving wood and designing over and over in my head for about a year. All of the wood is either grown and cut right around the house or reclaimed from a local barn that was built in the 1890's. The woods are Oak, Pine and Cedar. All were rough cut and either planed down or lightly sanded. Some of it had worm holes and I thought it added some character. The finish is sprayed satin Poly. The size is 36"x54", Bences are 19" tall. I only used 8 brads for the leg pillars and 8 screws to hold the top on. Everything else is glued and doweled. I am hoping to make memories with this table and my Son and Granddaughters. jr42, Mark SW, Cedric and 8 others
Popular Post RabidAlien
We're more of a "hang around the breakfast bar/counter and eat" than a formal "sit at the table" kinda family (mostly cuz the table is reclaimed 150-yr old barn wood table that my wife bought: its uneven and leans alarmingly, but is still rather sturdy). So no fancy centerpieces to put folks into any festive holiday moods or inspire Martha Stewart, but I do have the occasional trivet that get used during the two times a year we use that table. jr42, Jronn65, BadBob and 7 others
Joe W.
Nice cutting! What wood and finish did you use? I've been asked to make a few and am concerned about scorching/discoloration from the hot bottoms of pots/pans. RabidAlien

Honestly, I'm probably the LAST one to get advice on something that is going to come into contact with food or hot pots/pans. I think the wood is pine from Lowes, and finished with the usual Minwax (probably Honey, its one of my favorite colors). I know you're supposed to seal them with something (urethane?), but since they rarely get used and only contact the bottom of the pot, I've never had any scorching or discoloration issues.
