Came across this Steve Good pattern. I had to adjust the angle of the arms a bit to accommodate my saw, but it works. Looks better than the scrap block I was using. I put magnets in his feet so he would on "stand by" when not in use.

What is the actual purpose? Is it to maintain a level arm or is your arm not staying up? I cut a block to check my arm with once in a while but not often.

It's just to hold the arm up while I put the blade thru a hole or changing them. I used to use a scrap block, but thought this more creative.

I don't get it. Your saw's arm should stay up by itself. It must not be adjusted correctly.

I have 2 sewing machine lights on the arm. I've always figured that's why it won't stay up on its own. It did before I added the lights.

Ah-so! Now I get it. That would make a difference for sure. It wouldn't be too difficult to make a bracket for the lights and attach it to the main body of the saw to take the weight off the arm. There are 2 bolts on either side that could be used to mount he bracket. Just a suggestion to eliminate the need for a prop.
