Keys and cooking

I always wanted to try one of these.  I always bend my keys. I found the pattern and tried a few, but I’ve found it’s way to wide to keep in your pocket.  
my brother gave me the spalted wood but I’m not sure what kind it is.  It’s a very soft wood.  The recipe holder is a Steve good pattern and I used cherry.   I used semi gloss poly for all the finish.  
Im not sure what I’m gonna do with it either it’s to big for the space we have on the counter.  Thanks for looking.

Nice work on both. Could the spalted wood be spalted maple?

Maple is really hard? This is very soft.  The others are walnut and chestnut.

The key holder is a great idea, pity it's too big for your pocket, now if you were a lady you would have no problem. 
Great work on both projects.
