TorinoDan
I'm wondering what woodworking trade shows others are aware of in 2023. While they don't have to be exclusively scroll saw oriented, that's obviously our focus here. The only on I am aware of is the Midwest Scroll Saw Show in Dubuque, Iowa. That yearly show resumed in Aug 2022, so I presume (hope) it will be held again this coming year. What else is out there? scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy

Sycamore67
I went to the Midwest Scroll Saw and Woodworking Trade Show once and enjoyed it. If they have it next year, I will try to attend. OCtoolguy

Norm Fengstad
Been years now since a trade show came to our part of the world, OCtoolguy
jerry walters
Many years ago, those community home shows would have one or two scroll companies with a booth. This is where I became interested in scrolling. Stopped going to these shows when the scroll saw companies stopped showing their products. It wasn't necessarily a woodworking trade show but was enough to pique my interest. OCtoolguy, scrollingforsanity and danny
Gene Howe
Haven't seen a woodworking trade show in AZ since, IIRC, the early 80s. scrollingforsanity and OCtoolguy 1
OCtoolguy
I think part of the problem is the cost of the venues. The show promoters got greedy too. And then along came Amazon. I've heard about a few get togethers out in farmer's fields. They would be fun. tomsteve and scrollingforsanity
NC Scroller
Klingspor in Hickory, NC has a two day wood working show every year in late October. There are a number of scroll saw demonstrations done by various clubs/organizations but no particular manufacturer is represented. danny and OCtoolguy
TAIrving
I recently heard about the Southwest Association of Turners Southwest Association of Woodturners (swaturners.org). I haven't been to one but will try to go in 2023. It is a 3-day event for wood turners. Not scroll sawing, but at least wood working. it sounds like quite an event. Maybe someday the world of scroll sawing can do something like this. OCtoolguy
TorinoDan
The woodturning community has many of these type of events. That's partly why I started this thread. I do some woodturning, but have recently done much more scroll sawing. I was hoping to find something similar to the symposiums, expos, trade shows, etc. in the scrolling community. It seems like there used to be a few, but not exists anymore. OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
We each, in our own way, need to expose people to our hobby. Any way we can. I think many folks would get interested if they just knew that anybody can do it with a bit of practice. People are always amazed at what I make and I always try to explain how it's done. I wish our park had a facility that could be used as a hobby shop. I think if the interest increases, the vendors will see the potential and start finding ways to put on shows. I know there are many woodcarving shows. Why not scrolling? Why not a combination of the two? Or other hobbies? Clubs? Why not get something going? Ok, venting over. danny
timelett
Most craft shows I have been to the wood working doesn't draw mutch intrest, and even less sales from what I have seen. OCtoolguy
