Scrollshrimp
Hello all, I recently purchased this set of 16 stencils from Amazon to make trivets and coasters. They are about 6 inches square and made from a thin flexible plastic, you can attach them to a piece of paper then using a fine pen or pencil simply draw around the cut outs in the stencil and this will give you your pattern for scrolling. The method I use however is to place a piece of dark card behind the stencil and then scan it on my printer. I can then print of the design at whichever size I wish. The second picture is one I am making at the moment. Hope this gives some of you some ideas for trivets and coasters. Regards, Alan. OCtoolguy
How about a link to that pattern set? I like what I see. Thanks for posting.
kmmcrafts
Funny you mentioned the trivets.. I don't see a lot of mention or anyone making them very often. I asked for a book on my Christmas list this year and received it.. just today I scanned a couple of the pages and printed the patterns.. Not sure how popular they are to sell but I thought I'd give a few of them a try.. If nothing else the designs in the book could be shrunk in size and possibly can make some real delicate Christmas ornaments.. Anyway, yes as Ray said.. if you have a link to the ones you purchased post it if you would.. EDIT: This is the book I got for Christmas.. some really neat designs in it for trivets and coasters.. https://www.amazon.com/Circular-Scroll-Designs-Step-Step/dp/1497101506 Edited January 26, 2023 by kmmcrafts OCtoolguy
Tom-in-Ashland
Like those designs and your putting them on a baord with a handle is an intriguing idea. Also wondering what the wood is on that beautiful table. At first I thought it is Cherry but looking closer I'm not so sure. Did you make it, can't imagine it is from a furniture store? Positioning of each board in the glue up is well done. OCtoolguy

kmmcrafts
There might be a better search term but, I went to Amazon and searched for "plastic stencils" and there are a ton of designs.. I think they are made for painting.. come think of it the wife has some she got from one of the local box stores that are some sort of flower and leaf stems etc.. she got them to paint a decoration around our cabinet door in our utility room.. Hmm, I'd have never thought about searching for those.. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=plastic+stencils&crid=1GFV05Q4N36NW&sprefix=plastic+sten%2Caps%2C194&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_12 OCtoolguy and Kris Martinson 1

OCtoolguy
After wading through a bunch of stuff on Amazon, I finally found these. I think they have got to be the same ones. And the price is really cheap. I've got a set on order as we speak. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089YN1PDT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A9HFA7YGVGSKX&th=1 Edited January 27, 2023 by OCtoolguy

If you search "All" of Amazon for "Reusable Stencils" You will find lots of stencils that could be used for scroll saw projects.
