What Do You Cut?

Check out the poll at the top of the thread.  Just a quick poll to see what kind of materials folks are mostly putting on their saw.  Just out of curiosity.

You should have also put a mix in.  Depends on the project.  The results as they are would be about what I am cutting too!

Kind of agree with Barb. I cut both BBply and solid hardwoods.. probably about equal amounts of both. Possibly more BB because I do make a lot of ornaments and some of my wall hangings are also BB with solid walnut backers.. only clocks and puzzles are solid hardwoods.. some stuff is even standard plywood from the box stores.. Keep thinking about trying some soft metals too at some point.

I have cut plexiglass / plastic cardboard.

Branches and log slices < 2 inches.

And once an aluminum 1/8 inch.

But I re-read the question "most often" cut.

I cut mostly hardwood along with BB ply. I have cut moose horn and plexiglass.

Right now it's mostly hardwoods. But there are times when I do portraits in BB ply.

It really depends on the project. I would rather cut solid wood but on some projects solid wood is to weak and I use plywood. I have cut other materials. MDF and laminated flooring cone to mind.

I use baltic birch but have  used other laminated woods like oak, walnut and ash for portraits and ornaments. I also keep a supply of hardwoods for other projects

I answered solid wood, because, all things being equal, I prefer scrolling solid wood.  However, I probably cut just as much BB ply as solid wood, because for many projects, it just works better.

I use both solid wood and Bb ply and rght now I am regular ply from a cabinet shop, but I do prefer solid wood.

I cut BB and hardwoods both. Maybe more BB because of all the ornaments I cut.

If I was to guess, I bet I mostly use BB Ply.  I do love cutting Poplar, though.  It cuts so nicely.

Mostly solid wood right now.  I find they made the nicest ornaments.  I buy that lumber from LLJohnson. Right now Cherry is my favorite.  I did a couple in Cedar but it kept breaking, too brittle.
