Should be the other way around, Thank you two for asking questions.  Gets me to think (I know oh, oh, another being born story coming), but no, gets me to thinking of different things to try and coming up with different methods of doing things.  I've got some new ideas to try.  I hope as you make them and come up with new and better ways to do them you will share.

Paul, I was able to cut another small circle out of scrap wood which I painted the color i needed and filled in the cutout hole to raise the the eagles up to match the height of the rope. I don't know if you do that already.

ExactlyI make two pattern of each emblem I am going to cut cut the rope on one pattern and the waste inside becomes my backer for the finished emblem. The second pattern I cut the rest out and then I use some other scrap to fill the cutout of the center piece. I use 1/4" or 1/8" to fill that hole... If I use 1/8" I can glue it in at the height I want.
