Hegner Thingy 2

I did a bit of digging on the subject since I had never heard of HEIC or HEIF. It was developed in 2015 and as far as can tell it is only used by Apple starting in iOS 11 by default they are converted when uploaded but this can be changed. My guess is that @rash_powder is using an apple device that is misconfigured to upload these without converting them.

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with the cell phones. Unless Apple does something "Apple". That's why I don't use any Apple products. A whole different can of worms. I bought my wife an iPad 10 years ago. She is not a techy at all. She never even tried to use it. I have it plugged in to my PC just to keep it charged. I've never found a use for it either. I know there are folks who live by their iPads but not me. PC, laptop and phone are as far as I go. Now, with all the AI popping up, I'm afraid that we have reached a point where once the machines start talking to each other, the human race is doomed.

Yeah, I can see where the AI can be good / useful BUT, I can also see that opening up a whole new world of scammers and the like.. Do we really need AI, I don't think so since we've lived without it for ever, LOL.. Just not so sure it's benefits are good enough to justify the evil side of what can happen.

Yes, its the format of the apple phones and other products.. I believe there was a setting you had to change on the phone to make that change for uploading to the internet.. what I did I have no idea now.. I just know I had the same issues when it first came out.. I used to email myself the photos I wanted to upload as a workaround until I changed the setting in my phone.

HI all,

I took a spare floor brush from my shop vac and mounted it under my table by the base of the saw with the hookup pointing down and ran the hose to my dust extractor and it works just perfect. I also hooked my dust blower to a small airbrush compressor and its all hooked up to my floor foot switch, when I hit the peddle it all goes on.

Okay, got my new vac Tue.  spent the day setting thing up.  I like my set up now.  All hoses to the DC for the Hegner are short, to vacuum the shop I just disconnect from the hegner, hook the vacuum hose up and vacuum the shop and the adjoining restroom.   It will reach it all.  I think I will find a little smaller funnel, just because it does not need to be that big.

Paul, what are you using for the black hose? It looks like a better hose that what I have been seeing on others setups.

I purchased this kit from Rockler several years ago on one of their sales https://www.rockler.com/dust-right-flexiport-power-tool-hose-kit-12-fixed-length  The hose that the kit had back then was the black/flex rubbery house you see in my picture.  It is a heavy hose, possibly why they changed.. Not sorry I purchased it, I cut the hose in short pieces for things like in the picture and the fittings are good fittings.  I do not know where you could just but the hose, I looked did not find it, but no matter, probably not allowed in Callie anyway....😂  You know what I mean.

Nice setup. I have the cyclone that has about a 10” cone on top. Very tippy.
I like your idea with the cigar box. And in another picture you posted I saw how you hung your blade wrench. I’m gonna have to steal those ideas from you.
What size pvc are you using?
How much more noise is there using your setup vs directly hooking your Fein hose directly underneath table?

Here is my other side of the saw.  The wood hanger holds my clamp tool,  the black holder is for my poker (used to increase the size of the feed hole from the back to make it easier to feed the blade through and to poke out cut out waste the doesn't fall out).  The black holder  came on an ink cartridge as a protector, the minute I removed it from the cartridge I knew what it was good for.   Never got another one because the printer died and I never got more of those cartridges.). The wood thing with the test tube is my holder for the blade I am currently using in the saw. there is actually two of them holder side by side.  I often am switching between two sizes/types of blades so I keep both stored there.  Th white holder holds the alternate blade in a clamp ready to go when I want to switch.   These holders are held on with double sided tape and have stayed in place for several years.

Great ideas that I never take the time to make. I will now that you have lit the fire.

I’m not a fan of the orange dust control holder thingy that came with my saw. It kind of acted like an echo chamber when I put my Fein in it. Not sure if it’s harmonics ( if that’s the word I’m look for) but it drove me nuts. Anyways, after reading about and seeing what others have done, I decided to go simple.  I also kind of stole Scrappile’s idea where he uses a cigar Box below the table, but I don’t have one. Hmmm….I suppose I could take one for team and buy a box of cigars. (Big smile)

You are right in my opinion, I did not like Hegners under table dust collection.  Right now I have the best set up I have ever had.  And I get the most dust collected.  But to do it I had to go to a smaller cigar box.  The funnel setup took half the room of the older box.  I tried without a box but I missed it so much I had to drag out a littler one.  But I still have a Lot of air noise.  So much so I wear hearing protection.  I am running out of cigar boxes.  I had such a nice collection.  No, I rarely smoke a cigar, but I got into building cigar box guitars and kinda got carried away collecting the boxes.  If you want a fun hobby get into cigar box guitars and Ukes.  It is really fun, even if you don't play.  I still have the first one I made, didn't use a cigarbox, didn't have one so I made the box also.  I also have the last one I made which is a Uke.  Last time my son was home he tuned my uke for me, and he said he wished I would go back to making them..  He plays guitar and loved to mess around with my CBG's.  Just another great hobby.

Regarding the under table dust collection/cigar box thing, I recall that Les (Rockytime) had a plastic funnel that he fashioned from some sort of gallong jug and he used some small magnets that he epoxied to it and it stuck nicely to front of the frame that Hegner uses for a stand. The dust fell into that funnel and went down to the area where the screw cap would have been. That's where he attached his vac hose. Gravity and vacuum seemed to catch most of the dust.

God, I sure do miss Les! He was like a brother from another mother.
