The other is made from Oak and Poplar. The top has an added Alder to it. MarieC, Scrappile, barb.j.enders and 8 others 11 Quote

Gonzo Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Now that is thinking out of the box. (Yes, pun intended.) Holy crap dude, I really like your imagination! On the top picture, did you do the curved lid using a band saw? Tbow388 1 Quote

I don't know if you noticed the dowels in the corners. The finger joints have no glue, they are doweled together. Dave Monk, meflick and MarieC 3 Quote

Tim, I noticed the dowels but thought they were decorative since finger joints are inherently very strong. Just curious why you didn’t glue them. Tbow388 1 Quote

Just curious why you didn’t glue them. This box started out as a test on my re-worked jig. I had no intention on actually finishing it until I saw it. I was going to build a complete box with no glue, nails or screws. I doweled the corners together, I had a bottom that wedged into the sides. Then I saw it!!! If I put an alder top on it, it would be a nice looking box. So out came the glue. Probably the prettiest box I have made. It all started off as a test box from scrap wood. meflick 1 Quote
