Miniature Birdhouse Ornaments

Miniature Birdhouse Ornaments pattern by the late Diana Thompson. The wood for the birdhouses is Basswood and for the little birds, Purpleheart. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #6 Super Skip blade. After sanding with a Mac Mop, dipped in diluted Shellac, then sanded again. Comments welcome.

Yes, very nice! I carve a lot of spoons out of basswood.  How does it cut on the scrollsaw?

Nice Denny, I have those patterns also. Cut quite a few of them and gave them all away. Have to cut a few more I guess. Never used Bass wood. Have to try it. How did the #6 blade work out. Haven't tried them yet.

Thanks Matt.  Cuts like butter on the scroll saw, but for me too soft.

Thanks Rodney.  I cut four birds on a stock 3/4" x 3/4" x 6".  This allows better control with my fingers.

Thanks Ralph.  Basswood was a little too soft for me.  I now prefer #6 Super Skip for compound cutting.
