Hello, I just got back into scroll sawing after a 10 year pause.

I started out with a 3" pin Craftsman scroll saw back in the mid 90's, but due to relocation, I had decided to put my scroll saw hobby on hold.

For quite some time, I had wanted to get back into scroll sawing; although I now live in a condo where space is limitted, I thought what the heck and with my wife's encouragement I purchased a new scroll saw just a few weeks ago.

I now have a great scroll saw ,it is a (Dewalt 788) and it is setting inside my condo that I use on a regular basis.....the dust isn't too bad and it is so quiet and vibration free compared to that craftsman....smile!

The old craftsman 3" pin scroll that gave me much enjoyment, well I gave that to a co-worker who will now share the art of scroll sawing with his 14 year old son.

As a closing note....I just want to say I am looking forward to reading all the information and helpful hints that all of the readers offer at this site. My goal is also to offer insight and new ideas and methods as my scroll saw skills improve; of couse this will only occur after I get the 10 year rust off of my fingertips....smile

To all involved, I thank you for this web site that I will now call home..... Edster

Welcome to the Village, Edster! I'm glad you got back into the scrolling hobby. You have a wonderful saw. I've been eyeing that saw for quite some time, now. I think you'll find a lot of people use the saw indoors. It's relatively quiet and doesn't make that much mess. A few work off their kitchen table! I lived in LA for awhile living in a 1br apartment. I wish I would have discovered scrolling back then. Anyway, welcome aboard. We're glad to have ya!

Thanks to all who have welcomed me into the villiage.

I have always been facinated about creating scroll work and now that I am able to resume scrolling I am definetly looking forward to meeting others within the villiage who can help me grow from a novice into a well rounded scroller.

This is the first blog I have ever signed into and or joined and I am not real sure how all this works, but I will figure it all out with a little assistance and direction from within the villiage comunity.

Right now I am like a kid in a candy store, reading all the different forums and helpful hints that everyone had submitted.

I have been trying to create a portrait pattern from a picture with Adobe photo shop.....in doing so I wasn't making too much head way by myself... that was, until I googled and found the how to create a dog portrait with Travis and scroll saw goodies with my Adobe photoshop program.

I have saved that instructrional to my favorites and have watched that tutotial 2 times and have taken notes each time. Needless to say I Learned So Much....thank you travis!

Thanks to that instructrional by Travis because it was his invational path that lead me to the scroll saw village.

Thanks again to all within the villiage,

Edster, Clearwater Florida

Hi and welcome Edster. I'm glad you joined us. You'll enjoy your time here..........there is so much to do and see and everyone is really great. I'm glad to hear you're getting back into scrolling. I don't think I would have lasted 10 years and I'm just learning lol.

I have my saw in the house too. I do have a shop but can't afford to heat and cool it right now. So it sits smack dab in the middle of my living room lolol. Good thing my hubby is understanding.

Thanks for introducing yourself and telling us about yourself........we love getting to know new friends. And I hope you will share your work........we love seeing the goodies.

Jump right in and have fun!

Christina
