Popular Post Dennisfm56 Posted March 27, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 27, 2023 I say sorta intarsia as it was cut from the same piece of cheap pine. I did cut the light pieces from a different part of the same board as the dark to see how well I could match up. Used 2 different shades of danish oil for coloring. Learned a lot, especially that while I can cut to a line pretty well, I for sure can't draw one with a woodburning tool. Comments welcome. barb.j.enders Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 Looks great. I have to get around to doing that one as well. I think I have printed it a few times now. danny and Dennisfm56 2 Quote
Dan Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 Don't discount your efforts. You did well on the grain direction. I've seen Judy Robert's do a project with nothing but western red cedar. Dennisfm56 1 Quote
jerry walters Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 Looks pretty good to me even if it is from the same piece of wood. Nice job cutting looking at the grain to see how it should look. I have no desire to try intarsia, but maybe one day. Jerry Dennisfm56 1 Quote
jollyred Posted March 28, 2023 Report Posted March 28, 2023 That is the first intarsia I cut, back in 1996, from a pattern in Scroll Saw Woodworks and Crafts. I cut it entirely from western red cedar. Looks like you did a good job on it. Tom danny and Dennisfm56 2 Quote
JessL Posted March 28, 2023 Report Posted March 28, 2023 Your grain choices worked perfectly from what I can see. Very nice. Dennisfm56 and danny 2 Quote

heppnerguy Posted March 29, 2023 Report Posted March 29, 2023 Nice piece. I tried my first intarsia many years ago before I even had a scroll saw, just to see if I could do it. I used my band saw and different shades of cedar and was surprised that I was able to do it. I drew a pattern of a dolphin that had only 7 pieces to it. Way to go. you probably will be making a lot more intarsia items in your future. Dick heppnerguy Dennisfm56 and danny 2 Quote
Charlie E Posted March 29, 2023 Report Posted March 29, 2023 Nice. I am lousy with a wood burning tool! Dennisfm56 and wombatie 2 Quote
