kmmcrafts
Don't know much about these old saws but seen this and thought it'd be neat to have something like it. If I had the space I'd probably buy it. Think this is the same seller that has been had this listed on and off for a couple years.. Price don't seem bad, but I don't know. https://saginaw.craigslist.org/tls/d/midland-foot-treadle-scroll-saw/7603086178.html crupiea, OCtoolguy and ChelCass
Millwab
Kevin, you’re right they are a lot of fun. I managed to find one a few years ago that was complete and in running condition. I take it to our county fair to demonstrate scrolling in a building dedicated to crafts from the 1800s. Really gets some interest, especially from the kids, trying to figure it out. Along with a couple of educational posters about the history of scrolling and this particular saw I cut out some simple puzzles to show the saw working and then give them to the kids that show an interest. Mine is a New Rogers also made by Millers Falls. Edited April 11, 2023 by Millwab JessL, ChelCass and OCtoolguy
BadBob
They might be great when cutting thin stock. You could cut as slowly as needed and change speed on the fly. OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
That looks like a real good deal on that saw. I've seen saws similar for a whole lot more money. If I had a place for it, I'd certainly consider buying it.

This is true, but the hardest thing to get used to for me was mentally disconnecting what my feet were doing from what my hands were doing. With a modern saw you only have to pay attention to what your hands are doing. With a treadle you need to keep a steady rhythm with your feet regardless of how your hands are moving. preprius
Here is an Interesting thought... With the market of home exercise equipment this would do well. Lets just modernize it and put in on 3 items... 1 treadmill 2 stair stepper 3 exercise bike. us old guys can loose weight while doing a great hobby. kmmcrafts, barb.j.enders, Greatgrandpawrichard and 1 other
