Nice job! Plus you picked a great piece of wood for it. The colors are really cool. What kind of wood is it and what finish did you use?

Thanks. I used Alaska birch and black wood dye. Three coats with sanding in between.  The backer board is stained with "summer oak". The letters are stained with "kona". Can't remember with brand of stain, we have a pile of different kinds.  Found out several years ago if you go to the local dump they have a bin of stains and other items people drop off.  I thought all that stuff got recycled but apparently they try to give it away first.  Final step was a Danish oil finish on all of it.

Looks good. The E looks like it should be like that. Remember, no one knows  there's a mistake except you. Might look good with a backer on it to.

Haha, thanks.  There is a backer on it.  Happens to look like the background though doesn't it.  Didn't notice that until now.  🙃

Tip to get the letters lined up. Use the piece of wood you cut the letter's out of. Puts ome glue on the bottom of the letters and then pop them back in the piece of wood they were cut out from. Make sure you dont get glue on the edges as it will make it harder to remove the wood after when the glue dry's. Hope this make sense.

Dont use quick drying glue with this method. Use normal wood glue after about 30min slow ease up the piece of wood containing the letters holding down each letter as you go to make sure they dont move.
