What type of magnet do you think you would use? OCtoolguy

What type of magnet do you think you would use? From the description, it says he has "magnets behind." I would drill a small hole deep enough to take the small magnet, but not deep enough to drill through the square. Of course, you would do the same thing with the playing piece, just have the opposite polarity. It would be a lot of drilling nearly 100 holes! The seller (Serhan) is from Turkey. I forgot if it was Istanbul or Ankara. Nice guy, his scroll saw plans are great and priced very reasonably too. This is what I use for magnets on my projects. I get a pack of 60 Mini Magnets for $6. https://amzn.to/3O7Zekd Edited May 14, 2023 by rafairchild2 OCtoolguy and Dave Monk 1
flarud
That's pretty neat! Here is another that has shelves across the board. https://www.etsy.com/listing/952352918/black-walnut-board-with-traditional?click_key=936256b7762f1e840f37e8a3464244397d45fc1e%3A952352918&click_sum=877462d9&elp_to_elp_for_all_recs=1&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_bot-2&sts=1&listing_id=952352918&listing_slug=black-walnut-board-with-traditional OCtoolguy

Thanks for sharing. OCtoolguy
Dan
I've made dishwasher signs, Clean on one side Dirty on the other. I drilled 1/4" holes in 1/4" ply to embed the magnets. Then glued 1/16" ply on both sides. Works great, hides the magnets and doesn't scratch the dishwasher. You can go with the mini magnets or you can buy sheets of magnets and cut to any shape you like. OCtoolguy and Dave Monk
barb.j.enders
There is also paint available that will turn any surface into a magnetic board. It is a primer so you can paint over top. OCtoolguy, MarieC, crupiea and 1 other 3

crupiea
What if you just used a thin veneer on top of a metal sheet? Not sure it would work but a thought. Dave Monk, MarieC and OCtoolguy
