Welcome Thomas from Eastern WA.  You have lucky students who get to work with such great saws. Yes, let them know about this forum.  Pretty much everything I have learned was from all the knowledgeable folks on here!  Plus there are wonderful patterns they can access from here as well.

Hegners do need work but not too much.  The bushings need a drop or two of machine oil every so often depending on use.  

The nice thing is that almost all parts are readily available.  You can even do upgrades to older models.
