Dewalt planer

My brother just gave me a Dewalt planer with a helical head.  It’s pretty dirty and I’ve been cleaning it up.  Does anyone know of anything on YouTube for this planer as far as taking it apart and cleaning and lubing parts that need it?  He didn’t have the manual anymore.   Any pointers?  I appreciate the help.  Thanks.

I haven't really looked in my manual real good to see if it has anything info on oiling anything on it or not.. DW made a few different models but I would think if you search for a manual for the model you have I would think there is probably a free download of a manual online.

Wow, you are a lucky brother.   I love my DW planer.  I have never hand any problems with it.

If that helical head is the one with individual cutters, I strongly suggest that you buy the removeable cutter tool from Byrd and, religiously and regularly inspect each cutter for dust build up under the cutters. You'll know it's time when grooves start appearing in your planed boards.

Thanks I’ll check it.  I was wondering why that was happening.  I planed a piece of cherry and found that problem.

I got the download, but it is dead. One screw was already stripped, I tried to get ti out but couldn't.  I'm gonna buy a new one and my brother is gonna mess with the old one next time he comes home.
