He's a huge pokemon fan, and especially magikarp This is what I came up with. The magikarp is segmentation basswood painted with craft paint. The background is also basswood. I cut it into 2" wide pieces and knocked the corners off with a block plane. Frame is Butternut. Also knocked off the corners with a block plane. Overall dimensions are about 12" square.
