James E. Welch
What glue do you guys use? I'm wondering specifically what glue you use on painted/stained backer boards. Wood glue wouldn't stick to paint well right? Does CA glue hold up well long term?? OCtoolguy
preprius
non painted wood for indoors: titebond 2 non painted wood outdoors: titebond3 painted/finished wood or smooth metal surfaces: baking soda and CA glue. I will try pencil lead powder and baking soda w/CA glueb if I want a dark looking joint. cement or porous surfaces: E6000 or E6800 2 Part epoxy is another glue I have at the ready. kmmcrafts
I asked this a few years back and Weld Bond was what I was directed to at that time.. I used it a few times and so far seems to be doing the job fine. It was just light work to hold a painted backer to a cutting that hangs on the wall so there isn't much if any stress to the pieces I did with the Weld Bond. It dries clear too. kmmcrafts and crupiea

Jim McDonald
I just yesterday started a round of wood to wood and wood to metal projects with E6000. Seems to a great job, but is a lot like some of the tube style glues from the past--it can be runny. (I'm looking at you, ghost of DuPont Duro). ChelCass and James E. ChelCass
I use E6000 all the time. A little goes a long way. I have glued wood to wood (painted), glass to glass, metal to wood and glass to wood with no problems. If I am doing a really small piece then I use a toothpick to apply the glue. Can be bought at walmart, and any craft store. MarieC and James E. Welch
