Barb, those are just too cute, They remind me of Gumby.  Sure would be cute green.  Maybe green stain or die?   I am not sure how you made them but they are a wonderful project.  Do you have to mount them on something heavy to keep them from falling over, like a flat rock or a small square of granite?

It is a Steve Good pattern - floppy wood.  I mounted it on the square of plywood. They stand on their own, not sure though when waving!  Might have to try the green. Thanks.

Cute!

Water color paints could be used if you want to color them.  A non-hardening stain and BLO would also work.  Any hardening finish, like oil based paint, poly and probably even Lacquer will mess with the flexability.  A light coat of Lacquer or Polycrilic finish might work if you can pull and hold the flex cuts apart a little until the coating drys.

Have fun.

Hi Barb and thanks for the details and link to Floppy Guy.
I did two - the first one was with solid wood and that did not last long.

Switched to 3/4" construction grade plywood and that worked like a charm.

Now to see if Floppy Guy can find a new home.🫠
