Wichman Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 Just got this cut and I can't get out to the shop until tomorrow ( 93 in the shop ! ) to finish it. What color do you like best? I also have silver, but it didn't photograph well ( and maybe for the moon ? ) danny, Dave Monk, crupiea and 1 other 4 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 I'm color blind. Or my wife says I am. Who says stripes don't go with plaid? Anyway, sorry. I can't help. danny and MarieC 2 Quote

kmmcrafts Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 Well, they all make the details of the cutting pop.. I've never been one to put colors behind a animal that wasn't more realistic.. those bright colors would be neat behind a car / motorcycle cutting.. This looks like it's cut from walnut and so once finished the wood probably going to darken up a lot.. As they are right now I like the blue.. however I think that gold color once the walnut has it's finish on it might look pretty neat. MarieC 1 Quote
Wichman Posted July 26, 2023 Author Report Posted July 26, 2023 Once I have finished the piece I will post it in the bragging rights thread, I just wanted opinions on the colors The wood is elm once again so it will have this look: Quote
Kris Martinson Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 Of those presented, I'd choose the blue. However, I'm not usually one for drawing attention to the colorful background, so I prefer to display my pictures with a black felt backing. Roberta Moreton 1 Quote
Ctutor Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 I'd rather see a contrasting wood tone brown Quote
MarieC Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 That is so beautiful and I love the Elm.....I also agree with the others regarding the more earthy tones or black background for an animal. That is such a beautiful cutting that the more gold tone or earth tones would really make it look richer from my humble opinion. danny 1 Quote
TAIrving Posted July 29, 2023 Report Posted July 29, 2023 The blue certainly pops and will get more attention at the first viewing. However I think that a pleasantly coordinated tan or wood-tone or perhaps even gold will be more elegant and will be enjoyed long after the interest in the blue has expired. MarieC 1 Quote
Norm Fengstad Posted July 30, 2023 Report Posted July 30, 2023 I usually do a contrast dark coleo so blue would be my first choice but they are all interesting and have merit Quote
