Runs off of leaded shavings. 

For unleaded.... Colored pencils should work too.

really cute idea. I think if I were to copy your idea the  thing I would try to do different would be to try to figure out how to extent the port where the pencil goes in....to the back of the car and try to incorporate the port to look like an exhaust pipe.  I like your idea though.
